Joe Boske, a German by birth and a Galwegian by temperament, Joe Boske has been capturing the surreal soul of the West for over fifty years.
If you spent any time in a Salthill flat or a Kinvara pub over the last few decades, you’ve likely lived with Joe’s work. From the early, electric days of the Galway Arts Festival to the storied posters for the Cuckoo Fleadh and Cruinniú na mBád, Joe’s coloured pencils have defined the visual landscape of the West.
His work is often humorous, sometimes surreal, and always deeply detailed—a reflection of five decades spent observing Irish life from the corner of a session or over a quiet pint.
For the first time in years, Joe is opening his private archive. We are bringing his most iconic festival posters back to print, alongside his more personal, intricate drawings that have rarely been seen by the public. This shop is a celebration of Joe’s legacy and a way to bring a piece of that Galway magic back onto your walls
